"We want to win an Oscar."
That's what Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos told a German newspaper in December 2015,full sex movies - watch free full length sex movies in case you thought they were being subtle about it.
On Tuesday, Bezos' goal became an actual possibility after the streaming service's Sundance Film Festival 2016 pick-up Manchester by the Sea received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
The Salesman, an Iranian drama Amazon is distributing in the U.S., also gave Amazon a seventh nomination in the foreign-language film category.

But perhaps the biggest feat for Amazon? Breaking into the top category. With the nod, the streaming service became the first of its rivals, including streaming giant Netflix, to be in the running for Best Picture.

Streaming platforms have spent years making the rounds, especially at major film festivals, courting top-tier talent and generating buzz with unique originals.
For a time, they struggled to get high-profile titles as filmmakers weren't sure how a streaming service would treat their movies, both in release and on the awards circuit. But that changed fast.
Now the big streamers have billboards plastered in all the right Hollywood spots, host parties with other industry players (like the popular Netflix-Weinstein Co. Golden Globes party), and they know how to promote their content creatively.
Netflix has remained a giant. It grabbed its first Oscar nomination in 2014 for its documentary The Square.
But the company's first non-documentary feature film -- Beasts of No Nation -- got shut out last year after a failed theatrical release. This year, Its documentary 13th, from Ava DuVernay, was nominated in the documentary feature category. Two documentary shorts, Extremisand The White Helmets, also garnered nominations.
Meanwhile, Amazon has also been aggressively working to win over Hollywood with its projects. And in 2017 that paid off.
Amazon Studios picked up Kenneth Lonergan's critically acclaimed family drama for $10 million, outpacing several other major studios at Sundance.
The film follows Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck), who returns to his Massachusetts hometown following the death of his brother (Kyle Chanlder) to take care of his nephew Patrick (Lucas Hedges). Affleck took home the Golden Globe for best actor earlier this month.
The streaming service partnered with Roadside Attractions for distribution and marketing.
Already this year, Amazon dished out a whopping $12 million at Sundance for The Big Sick, which isn't expected to be an awards film -- but proves the concept that streaming services are in the movies game to win it.
