Once again,Thriller Archives the no. 1 Super Smash Bros. Meleeplayer in the world, Adam "Armada" Lindgren, went undefeated to win Genesis 4, the first major Smash tournament of 2017.
Armada defeated player after player in the winners bracket to make it all the way to the grand finals for the fourth Genesis in a row and defeated his rival Joseph "Mango" Marquez for the third Genesis in a row, earning first place and taking home $8,520.
The match wasn't even close as Armada closed out the best-of-five set with three clean wins in a row. Armada's Peach repeatedly sent Mango's Fox sailing off the stage with crazy combos and reads.
Once Mango was off the stage, Armada made it nearly impossible for him to recover with impassable edge guards.
The history between Armada and Mango made for quite the tournament. The two first played each other at the first Genesis tournament in 2009, where Armada beat Mango in the winners finals and then lost to him in the grand finals. Since then, the two players seem to keep meeting at the grand finals of Genesis, and this year was just another page in that story as Armada's Genesis record against Mango went up to 3-1.

Before meeting Mango in the winners semifinals, Armada edged out Kalindi Jabari Henderson, Johnny "S2J" Kim and Weston "Westballz" Dennis, then beat Mew2King in the winners finals.
Not only did Armada go undefeated in Meleesingles, he and his brother Andreas "Android" Lindgren took first place in Meleedoubles.
