LOS ANGELES -- This verdict was near-unanimous.
The Esther MoserPeople v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Storywas as resounding winner at the Emmys on Sunday night, including Best Limited Series -- a surprise to no one after what had recently become the most electrifying and popular television miniseries to grace this golden age of television.
Who here thought a Ryan Murphy-produced miniseries about the Trial of the Century on FX would be this good? Against all expectations, it was -- and it was richly rewarded.
Courtney B. Vance won Lead Actor in a Limited series for playing Johnny Cochrane. On the actress side, Sarah Paulson won for her portrayal of Marcia Clark, who was also her date.
Moments before, Sterling K. Brown won for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his emotionally shattered turn as Christopher Darden.
"A lot of you may not have known who I was, but you checked the box anyway," Brown said. "And that makes me very very happy. To the communities who supported me ... there's a lot of people in St. Louis making a lot of noise right now. Momma! I can hear you!"
