Surely you recall the footballer who recently shouted out both his wife and"girlfriend" on Girls in the Night Trafficlive TV during a post-match interview. It was an own-goal for the ages.
Except our protagonist, Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas, says there's a very wholesome, perfectly logical, totally believable explanation for all this.
We'll let you judge for yourself, though.

"And I appreciate my fans, also," Anas says in the clip below. "My wife and my girlfriend... yeah, I mean my wife. Yeah, sorry to say... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, my wife..."

The cringeworthy moment has since garnered international news coverage.
But in an interview with CNN published Wednesday, Anas said this is all a big misunderstanding.
"My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That's what I was talking about. I don't have a girlfriend," said the suddenly famous soccer star.
Ohhh, OK. That explains everything, Mohammed. Uh-huh. Yup. Nothing to see here.
