It's been a while since Taylor Swift last appeared on The Farmer’s Bride Requires Care! Part 2: The Organic Grand Strategy (2021)the cover of a magazine. But, her first cover shoot of the Reputationera is here. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the British Voguecover is all about reinvention.
In addition to a high fashion—and kinda emo—photo shoot, Swift has also written a poem for Vogue on the topic of "reinvention and moving on." Quelle surprise! Sadly, we have to wait until Friday, when the magazine hits stands, to get our hands on Swift's poetry.
SEE ALSO: This one lyric from 'Gorgeous' is proof that the old Taylor Swift is not dead"It’s been a while since I’ve done a magazine cover. I’m really happy my first one back was with such wonderful people," wrote Swift in an Instagram post about her cover shoot for the January issue of Vogue.
Swift's choice of magazine for her comeback cover shoot makes total sense, too. British Vogueis in the process of reinventing itself after Edward Enninful took over as editor-in-chief last month. Enninful's first cover of the self-styled "#NewVogue" addressed criticisms about the magazine's lack of diversity which had circled the publication under its previous leadership. The November issue of the magazine featured mixed-race model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah as its cover star. Taylor Swift will be the second cover star since Enninful took over.
Naturally, Swift's look for the cover shoot—shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott — mirrors her newfoundReputationaesthetic, complete with dark lipstick and heavy eyeliner.
"For me, the chance to help transform America’s most fascinating sweetheart was a joy," says Enninful of the shoot.
"Obviously she is a world-class lyricist – and has written a stunning poem just for Vogueon the timely subject of reinvention and moving on – but she also takes her duties as a role model very seriously," says Enninful.

Per Enninful, Taylor told him she'd "never seen herself transformed like this before." "I was very touched to see how emotional she was at the end of our shoot day in London," he continued.
"Taylor is acutely aware of her following and how she communicates with young women, and will never portray a character that would send the wrong message," says Enninful. "That said, even superstars aren’t immune to the power of a great dress."
Can't wait to read your poem, Swifty.
