Invites are Watch Aunt's Temptation (2018)coming out for the mobile version of FortniteBattle Royaleon iOS and it looks like it's shaping up to a complete game-changer.
The invite-only version of Fortnite Battle Royalereleased on iOS Thursday supports cross-platform play between mobile, console, and PC players — a revolutionary idea for competitive shooters like Fortnite, and one that could take the game to the top of every chart imaginable.
SEE ALSO: It's time to stop sleeping on 'Fortnite'Fornite Battle Royalewas inspired by popular last-person-standing games like Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, which have started to carve out their own battle royale subgenre, but Fortnitehas begun to pull away as the crowd favorite. Now that it's coming to mobile, it'll likely take the top spot.
But how does a game like Fortnitetranslate to mobile, especially when mobile players have to compete against people using controllers or mice and keyboards?
It takes a little bit of time to get used to, according to some people who received invites like Polygon's Jeff Ramos, but it makes up for the touch controls and audio limitations with some small changes. On mobile, there are visual cues for footsteps and gunshots to see where they're coming from and how close they are.
Of course, it's not an easy transition from control or mouse and keyboard to touchscreen. One non-mobile player matched up with someone who appears to be playing on mobile for one of their first times. It's a little hard to watch.

But with a little practice (or maybe a Bluetooth controller), you too can get a kill on mobile.

Or, as Richard Sherman showed off on Twitter, even win a game.

Fortnite Battle Royaleis the first game that's really bridging the gap between PC, console, and mobile, and it'll likely continue to be tweaked in its invite-only stage to even out the playing field more and more. Until it's a perfect balance, good luck out there.
