Samsung has been working on Science Fiction Archivesa foldable phone for seemingly forever, but the release of this fabled device keeps getting delayed (presumably because the entire concept doesn't make a lot of sense).
Now, a new leak claims to show a cancelled, two-screened phone from Samsung, and it looks surprisingly boring.
SEE ALSO: Samsung reportedly planning an August reveal for the Galaxy Note 9The concept, leaked by Twitter user @MMDDJ_ and noticed by SlashLeaks, is basically a fat Samsung phone with a second screen on a hinge. Apparently, it was called Project V (model number SM-G929F) -- we've heard of a similarly named foldable Samsung phone in 2016, so that's presumably when this thing was designed.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
By the look of it, we won't shed a tear over the fact that this project got cancelled, as the phone doesn't appear to be very useful, or chic, even by 2016 standards.
It's worth noting that ZTE did launch a device very similar to this one in 2017 -- and it still didn't make much sense.
The rumors that Samsung is still working on a foldable phone (presumably with a flexible OLED screen) refuse to die, though, so we may still see some variant of it in the future.
