There are Lily LaBeau Archivesdefinitely spoilers here. Don't say we didn't warn you.
When the good people at HBO throw us a Game of Thrones-related bone, you can bet that we'll pick incessantly at said bone until all possible clues have been extracted.
HBO just dropped a new teaser trailer for the final season of the show, a 90-second scene featuring Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Arya Stark walking in the crypts of Winterfell, where they come face-to-face with statues of themselves.
But fans are noticing that one of the Stark children is not there, and they have a pretty interesting theory as to why. The youngest living Stark heir Bran is nowhere to be seen... or is he?

In the teaser, as Jon, Arya, and Sansa are staring at the statues, something makes them turn around. Something really cold, making even the feather -- originally placed in the hand of Lyanna Stark by Robert Baratheon in the pilot episode -- turn frosty.
Fans are now speculating that the cold something is, in fact, Bran. Bran as the Night King, that is.

The theory of Bran being the Night King is a big, mind-boggling ordeal of time-travelling and warging -- explained in depth here -- but this is the gist: Bran, being both a greenseer and a warg, does a whole lot of time-travelling and meddling to save the human race, and ends up going all the way back to the moment where the Children of the Forest create the Night King -- where he ultimately gets stuck in the body of the Night King, because of the whole ink being dry concept (the Three Eyed Raven previously told Bran, "The past is already written. The ink is dry," meaning that the past is fixed).
So when the crypt fills with icy mist in the teaser, and Jon and Arya both draw their swords? That's just their dear little brother arriving on the scene. But it's just one theory...
Elsewhere in Internetsville, fans were making the argument that since Bran is now the Three-Eyed Raven, he's not even really human anymore, hence no real human form to make a statue of. Also, promos for the show are generally not considered canon -- a trailer for a previous season, for example, showed faces of still-alive characters displayed in the Hall of Faces.
Oh well, what do we know? Surely fans will continue to speculate until the tension is finally released on April 14th.
Where are the statues of Robb and Rickon, BTW?
