On Saturday evening local time988 Archives Typhoon Hagibis hit the Izu peninsula, southwest of Tokyo. More than 23,000 people were evacuated ahead of the typhoon's landfall, CNN reports.
Hagibis caused landslides and widespread flooding. As of Monday, more than 50 people are reported dead, with 14 missing, and more than 210 people injured from the typhoon, Japan's national broadcasting organization NHK reported. More than 84,000 homes are without power, according to CNN.

The typhoon was downgraded to a tropical depression on Sunday. But areas already affected by Hagibis could receive more rain on Monday, adding to the devastating flooding, CNN says.
