There's a sixth ranger in the new Power Rangersfilm you may have Peggy Markoffnever expected to see. No, we're not talking about the Green Ranger or the White Ranger.
This one actually has a mix of Green, White and even some Red.

If you see the film, you won't realize just how critical the role of the doughnut and coffee establishment is until about halfway through it. We counted 10 scenes where Krispy Kreme gets a visual or verbal shoutout.
SPOILER ALERT: This post contains plot details, as related to Krispy Kreme.
The first involves the two female leads -- Yellow and Pink Ranger -- training inside the local Krispy Kreme. In the second instance, you learn from Billy the Blue Ranger that the Krispy Kreme in their town Angel Grove is the location of the magical artifact "the Zeo Crystal."
The third: Billy reveals Krispy Kreme is the secret location of villain Rita Repulsa.
"Krispy Kreme?" Rita asks.
"It's very special," he says.
"The source of life is buried there," Rita replies.
Fourth, Red Ranger says they need to go to Krispy Kreme -- to take on Rita.
The next six instances are all shots of the epic battle scene. The most awe-inspiring (?) is when Rita goes into the Krispy Kreme and eats a doughnut. No joke.

"It is also, jaw-droppingly, one long Krispy Kreme commercial — the Power Rangersproduct-placement game is strong," Emily Yoshida writes in her review of the film for Vulture.
It's a strange and abruptly clear partnership. As my colleague Mashablemovie reporter Angie Han noted to me, "all the other establishments in Angel Grove are named stuff like 'Marine Garage' or 'Daily News' or something, so it seems like Krispy Kreme is their only business that is not completely generic."
The partnership extends beyond the film itself. Krispy Kreme is offering Power Rangers-themed doughnuts until April 2.
Krispy Kreme's website also features a 360-video experience of the Krispy Kreme in Angel Grove, when it's open and bustling with customers and also when it's closed and apparently destroyed.

Also, Krispy Kreme is running a sweepstakes, where you can win a trip to San Francisco (the fictional town of Angel Grove is in Northern California), $500 in spending money and a "gift card for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for a Year."

"Krispy Kreme Doughnuts had so much fun partnering with Lionsgate on the Power Rangers film," Sarah Roof, head of corporate communications for Krispy Kreme, wrote in an email.
"The scenes in the movie are as relevant to our customers in the U.S. as they are across the globe, so we knew this was something that our audiences would really relate to. It’s been great to see the consumer reaction across the globe," she continued.
