When it comes to the battle of the late night shows we know one thing for sure: Jimmy Fallon's ratings006 Archivesbeen down for weeks and Stephen Colbert is celebrating by throwing his staff exciting pizza parties.
A recent New York Timesprofile on The Late Show's notablerise in ratings examined Colbert's new political approach and provided a fun anecdote on how his team celebrates besting his handsome, successful, funny guy rival, Fallon.
In what the New York Timesrefers to as "one of the most surprising turnaround stories in recent television," Colbert's The Late Show ratings have officially topped The Tonight Showfor NINE consecutive weeks. Woah, baby.
And in case you didn't know, Colbert is taking his victory in stride.
According to the Times, Colbert was "losing by more than a million viewers" this time last year, so to celebrate he's going all out -- and yep, that means staff pizza days.
"Throughout the offices of The Late Show, staff members could be heard saying, “Pizza! Pizza!” — celebrating a reward that comes on Tuesdays when they beat The Tonight Showin the ratings," Timeswriter John Koblin noted.
Though Fallon's goofy viral bits used to reign supreme, it seems that ever since Trump rolled into town, people aren't quite in the same mood.
