The Ava Fabian Archivesfundraising war is over and the ninth game at the biggest fighting game tournament in the world is decided: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
Multi-title fighting game event Evo 2017 is hosting nine different fighting game tournaments in July -- eight chosen by the Evo tournament organizers and one chosen by the community. Instead of holding a simple multiple choice vote, though, Evo asked players and fans to vote with their dollars, with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish International charity. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3(UMVC3) came out on top, generating $71,690 in donations from 1,487 people over 15 days.

Pokkén Tournament came in a close second to UMVC3, generating $66,906 in donations by the end of the fundraiser. The two games were in a close race in the final days of the competition and both raised over $10,000 in the final hour. Just 10 minutes before the end, Pokkén Tournamentwas within $1,000 of UMVC3, but UMVC3 surged ahead as time ticked down.
None of the other games came close to raising that much money -- Killer Instincttook third place with $6,116 in donations.
Over the 15-day fundraiser, 2,594 people donated $152,095 to the Make-A-Wish International charity.
UMVC3 joins Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. 4, Tekken 7, Injustice 2, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, King of Fighters XIVand Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2at Evo 2017 from July 14 to 16 in Las Vegas.
