If the reports are eroticism massagetrue, your next Snapchat filter could include an even better dose of augmented reality -- and might make online shopping even easier.
An Israeli business news site, Calcalist, reported on Christmas Day that Israel-based start-up Cimagine Media has been purchased by the disappearing photo app in a $30- to $40 million acquisition.
Cimagine uses AR in the retail space by allowing customers to "place" a piece of furniture or an appliance in their home to see how it would look before purchasing. As VentureBeatreported, this could be a push for Snap to get into commerce and shopping through its app.
Cimagine claims on its website to have the world's first augmented showroom, perfect for indecisive shoppers that just don't know if the teal or the taupe couch is the way to go.
Reached for comment by Mashable, Snap had nothing to say about the reported acquisition.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
Mashable also reached out to Cimagine about the deal, but has yet to hear back from the company.
