Ok,sex video live Twitch!
The video game streaming service Twitch announced on Friday three new leadership hires. And with the addition of three new female executives, Twitch's team of C-level executives has just become majority women.
Now, four out of seven of Twitch's chief executives are female — which is not something you see every day in the good ol' tech industry.
According to Fortune, Twitch hired Katrina Jones as chief of diversity and inclusion, Sudarshana Rangachary as chief human resources officer, and Michelle Weaver as chief financial officer. Jones' diversity and inclusion role is a new one for the Amazon-owned company.
Speaking of Amazon, with this new executive line-up, Twitch stands out amongst its tech industry peers. As of 2015, women held 25 percent of leadership roles in tech — which includes all executive, senior level and management roles. Sheryl Sandberg is Facebook's only woman on its five-person C-suite, Diane Greene is Alphabet's only chief, none of Apple's five chiefs are women, and only two out of Amazon's 28 top person leadership team are women. That's... pretty dismal.
Considering that the video game industry has been plagued with its own share of toxic sexism and harassment, the example that Twitch is setting with its leadership team is all that more notable.
Good on you, Twitch. Maybe some day I'll understand why watching other people play video games is fun.
